Marines shop for Toys for Tots campaign

News

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – Local members of the Marine Corps went shopping Friday to make sure every child has presents under the tree this year.

The Marine Corps has been doing the Toys for Tots campaign since 1947.

They are buying toys for children up to age 14.

They’ll sort through all the toys bought and get them ready for distribution in December.

The program is possible thanks to donations from the community.

Staff Sergeant Keegan Snell says the need grows every year, “last year we doubeld the amount of donations we received and also doubled the amount of children we assisted so we expect to keep growing this year, which is why we’re putting a lot of emphasis on getting more toys in bulk and we can keep up with the growing demand of children, families in need.”
