Man throws cell phone on stage as Trump approaches podium at NRA convention

A man was removed from a National Rifle Association event Friday after apparently throwing a cell phone on stage as President Donald Trump was preparing to speak.

As President Trump walked across the stage toward the podium at the NRA annual convention in Indianapolis, an object could be seen coming toward the stage from the audience.

The secret service released a statement saying in part that a cell phone from the crowd landed on the opposite side of the stage.

They also said an individual was removed from the event and an investigation is ongoing.

Statement from the Secret Service:

At approximately 12:30 p.m. (ET) today, President Trump was at an event in Indianapolis, IN. As the president was walking onto the stage, but prior to his remarks, a cell phone from the crowd landed on the opposite side of the stage. An Individual was removed from the event and the investigation is continuing.
