A man accused of robbing and beating another man in 2018 was sentenced to prison Wednesday.
Dereck Worthington will spend the next 25 years in prison after pleading guilty in Vigo County Court to charges of robbery resulting in serious bodily injury. As part of a plea agreement, other charges, including attempted murder, were dropped.
Worthington’s charges stemmed from an incident last July at a home on 6th Avenue in Terre Haute in which a man was held at gunpoint and beaten. Another suspect, Jon Marshall was also charged in the case. Marshall allegedly cut the line of the victim’s oxygen tank while the victim was taped to a chair.
Online court records show Marshall has a change of plea hearing scheduled in June.
