Man in custody after police situation near Hymera


One man is in custody after a police situation in Sullivan County.

Joey Lee Edmonson was arrested on two Greene County warrants after police were called to a home located near Sullivan County Roads 725 East and 750 North.

Sullivan County Sheriff Clark Cottom says authorities responded to the area after a woman called 911, saying her boyfriend, later identified as Edmonson, had pointed a gun at her.

According to Sheriff Cottom, the woman thought Edmonson had gone into the house.

Additional agencies, including Indiana State Police and the Terre Haute Police Department Special Response Team, were called in to assist.

Eventually, police made entry into the home and found that it was empty.

Edmonson was later located in Greene County and apprehended. He faces several charges including strangulation, battery resulting in bodily injury, stalking where the defendant threatened sexual battery, serious injury or death, and violating a protective order. 

The woman who contacted authorities had an active Order of Protection out of Greene County against Edmonson. 

He is also facing charges of violation of privacy for the events that occured in Sullivan County.
