A Vermillion County man is behind bars after being arrested on several charges after a traffic stop Wednesday evening.
On August 16th at 10:30 P.M., Deputy Keith Warner clocked a Jeep traveling at 114 MPH in a 60 MPH zone.
After initiating a traffic stop, the vehicle continued northbound on State Road 63 at a high rate of speed before slowing and coming to an abrupt stop on the right side of the road near CR 200N.
Deputy Warner identified the driver as Jonathan W. Barnes, 34, of Clinton (pictured above.)
Barnes had a strong odor of alcohol on his breath and a container of beer in the vehicle.
A subsequent search of the vehicle led officers to locate a mason jar of marijuana inside.
Barnes was transported to the Vermillion County Jail and charged with OVWI prior (.19%, level 6 felony), Possession of Marijuana, Resisting Law Enforcement, (inside the jail), and reckless driving.
