Man dead after motorcycle crashes into car in Edgar County


EDGAR Co., Ill. (WTWO/WAWV) — Police are investigating after a motorcycle and car crash in Edgar County left a man dead Saturday.

It happened east of Redmond.

According to officials, the crash happened around 8:16 p.m. at the intersection of County Road 11 at Shiloh Road and Illinois Highway 133.

They said Eric Marcrum, 32, of Hume, Illinois was riding a motorcycle when he failed to stop at stop sign at the intersection.

According to officials, Marcrum went through the stop sign onto Illinois Highway 133. He was then thrown from his motorcycle after hitting the driver’s side of a car.

Police said Marcrum was not wearing a helmet. He was taken to Horizon Health in Paris where he was pronounced dead.

They said those in the vehicle were okay.

The crash remains under investigation.
