A man is facing charges after an investigation into several burglaries in southern Sullivan County.

Police arrested Dylan Schmidtz, 22, of Carlisle.

Earlier this month, Sullivan County Sheriff’s Deputies found Schmidtz and a Merom man during a traffic stop, near one of the burglaries.

During that stop, deputies discovered multiple firearms. Both men were arrested on firearms and drug charges.

However, after further investigation, police say they found multiple stolen items from other burglaries in Schmidtz’s vehicle.

The Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office worked with crime scene technicians from the Vigo County Sheriff’s Office and Indiana State Police to process the scenes of the burglaries. Investigators collected fingerprints, shoe prints and items for DNA analysis.

Sullivan County Sheriff Clark Cottom says they determined Schmidtz was at the scene of at least three burglaries. The investigation is ongoing to determine if others were involved.

Schdmitz now faces charges of Burglary, Residential Entry, Theft and Unauthorized Entry of a Motor Vehicle.
