A California man is in a local jail cell tonight, after authorities say he attempted to buy a motorcycle with drugs.

This happened on Friday, October 5, when a local man who was selling his motorcycle on Craig’s List, notified Vermillion County Deputies that a man offered to buy the bike with 3 pounds of marijuana and $2,000.

Through several conversations with the suspect, he indicated that he would be at Clinton Walmart parking lot later than day.

Deputies then set up surveillance surrounding the area, and managed to locate and arrest him.

The suspect is identified as 37-year-old Charles Kelley of California. Deputies discovered Kelley was in possession of approximately 3 pounds of marijuana, 7 grams of suspected meth, cash and drug paraphernalia.

Kelley is currently being held at the Vermillion County Jail, and faces multiple charges of possession and dealing of drugs.

His bond is set at $15,000.
