Sullivan County - A Northern Indiana man is in a Sullivan County jail cell, after he robs a local car dealership, steals and crashes a brand new stolen vehicle and was caught in a foot pursuit with police.
On Tuesday, just after 3:30 a.m., Sullivan County law enforcement officers arrested 27-year-old Dorian Hart of Gary, Indiana after he robbed the Sullivan Automotive Group Dealership and ran from police.
Officials say Hart broke into the dealership in the overnight hours, and had stolen large amounts of cash from a donation box that served as a collection point for the "Brown Bagger's " lunch program and "Christmas for Kids."
Hart was captured on surveillance video breaking into the offices and pocketing the children's donations fund before leaving the building.
After he left the building, he proceeded to break into several parked vehicles at the dealership. He then drove off with a brand new Dodge Ram pickup truck.
At 3:33 a.m., deputies received a 911 call that a similar black Dodge pickup truck had crashed into another vehicle in the 600 block of East Jackson street, and fled the scene.
Members of the Sullivan County Sheriff's Department and Sullivan Police Department began searching the area, when they found Hart driving the truck southbound on St. Clair Street.
They attempted to stop the vehicle, and Hart jumped out and ran.
Officers and deputies chase after Hart and apprehended him soon after.
Hart was booked into the Sullivan County Jail and charged with Burglary, Auto Theft, Theft, two counts of Leaving the Scene of a Crash, Resisting Law Enforcement, Operating a Vehicle While under the Influence of a Controlled Substance, and seven counts of Criminal Mischief.
Hart's bond is $76,000.
