Students of two Vigo County schools will no longer have to worry about lunch debts, after an anonymous donation was made to the Vigo County School Corporation.
The individual donated a total of $1,500. The money went to both a middle school and high school that are not named at this time.
Vigo County School Corp. says they hope that this will take a burden off of students during lunch time.
The Director of Student Services for Vigo County schools also says he is proud of the communities willingness to give, and he hopes that students can take a lesson from this donation.
“People are not afraid to give here and when they do give they truly want to remain anonymous. We just want to say thank you to that individual, and hopefully our students learn from it and try to pay it forward too,” says Tom Balitewicz, Director of Student Services.
The names of the two schools remain unnamed out of respect to the anonymous donor.
The donation covers debts that are owed, and students will continue to pay for lunch moving forward.
