Long Time Educator Passes Away

A long time Wabash Valley educator, whose career has spanned for over several decades, has passed away.

On Tuesday morning, 83-year-old Darrell Roundtree of Terre Haute passed away at his home.

He served as a teacher and principal at Pimento Elementary, and later as principal of Hoosier Prairie Elementary School from 1979 till his retirement in 1998.

He continued to be involved with Vigo County schools well after his retirement, until March of this year.

Darrell was also a veteran of the United States Army and a graduate of Indiana State University.

The visitation will take place on Friday, August 17th, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Debaun Springhill Chapel.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 18th at 1 p.m. at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church Hospice of the Wabash Valley or to the charity of your choice.
