Locals raced at the chance to go to the Tony Hulman Classic

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – Drivers start your engines. It’s the end of May in Indiana and that means racing, not only at IMS, but also at Terre Haute’s Action Track.

And the 49th annual “Tony Hulman Classic” attracted a good crowd at the track.
Tonight’s action included the USAC Racing AMSOIL National Sprint Car Series.
The very best non-wing sprint car drivers in the country tried to add their name to the list of storied winners.
Plus, they wanted to win the Hulman rifle trophy.

Driver Robert Ballou said this before the race, “Any race at the Action Track is legendary. Every one of the greats raced here. Its just, to be able to put your name as a victory with all these other guys who have won… you know its pretty prestigious.”

Chad Stockton from Elizabethtown won the race.

Robert Ballou placed 4th.
