TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Vigo Co. Election Board met Tuesday afternoon to certify the results from the Nov. 5 municipal election.
Vigo Co. Clerk Brad Newman says the numbers from the election were “incredible” and compared to the last mayoral election, voter turnout improved by 26 percent.
The two county-wide referendums created even more voter turnout, and Newman says over 50 percent of votes came from early voting.
“The trend is going to early voting; it’s easier, it’s more accommodating to people’s schedule. We’re going to see a lot more early voting,” said Newman.
Newman says he expects every Vigo Co. voting record to be broken in the 2020 election and says the board has already begun planning for next November.
