William M. Wilkey, 35, of Paris was driving a motorcycle westbound on 1625N near St. Bernice, Indiana when he failed to negotiate a sharp 90 degree curve, according to the Edgar County Sheriff’s Department.

Wilkey struck a car driven by Maurice E. Straw, 77, of rural Chrisman who was entering the curve traveling eastbound.

Straw drove his vehicle into the grassy shoulder trying to avoid the accident, and came to a near stop on the shoulder.

Wilkey was ejected from the motorcycle during the collision. He was transported to Union Hospital in Clinton, Indiana, and then flown by helicopter to an Indianapolis hospital where he died Wednesday morning.

Straw and his three passengers where un-injured during the accident.
