TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – Friday, Voiture 21-40 & 8 in Terre Haute held the third annual POW/MIA recognition ceremony.

The ceremony included guest speakers, military traditions, the reading of Vigo County’s POW/MIA’s, and a raffle.

The two Vigo County POW/MIA’s honored this evening were Karl Wade Lawson and Quentin Rippetoe Beecher.

Both men died while serving during the Vietnam War.

Leaders of this ceremony say this day is about never forgetting those who have served our country.

“We’d like to keep the custom going with the non-military people, so they’re aware of some of the stuff we went through, some of the stuff that they went through, and just keep it alive,” said Fred Robertson, Voiture 21-40 & 8.

The items available for this evening’s raffle were a POW/MIA display train and pocket watch.
