Local YMCA Waives Fees For Furloughed Workers

The YMCA of the Wabash Valley is stepping up to help government workers being impacted by the shutdown.
From now to the end of March federal workers will get free access to the facilities in Clay and Vigo Counties.
All they have to do is show their Federal ID’s.
Also during that same time for workers who already have a membership, the $10 per month fee will be wavied for the child watch program.
Plus fees will also be waived for the after school program, if their childrens are already enrolled in the program.
Executive Branch Director Nicole Fry says it is just a way to help in a time of need.
“we can understandthis can be a stressfull timefor them. So, giving them an escape to come in and focus on their health and well being. We thought this would be a good oppertunity for them.”
Furloughed workers with children not enrolled in the after school program.
But who need childcare during that time can contact the “Y” to see what they can do to help.
The numers are 812-442-67-61 in Clay County and 812-232-84-46 in Vigo County.
