Local woman helps others during pandemic one stitch at a time

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – A local woman has been busy at her sewing machine making sure folks have the face masks they need.

Becky Buse got out her sewing machine earlier in the pandemic and started out making about a hundred masks. She says they went fast.

She later posted about her efforts on social media and began receiving lots of requests for masks.

Buse says it has become a little more difficult to find the loops for the ear pieces, but she says she plans to keep making the masks as the requests come in.

“I decided this was something I could do to help people and so I just kept doing it. I never dreamt we’d be going on this long and I never dreamt I’d be making masks this long,” says Buse.

She says she even got down a box of Christmas fabric she had stored away because she anticipates she’ll need it to keep up the effort.
