Finances are probably the last thing on the mind of an 8th grader, except for this week.
Junior Achievement’s Let’s Get Real Program is underway.
Over the course of two days, all Vigo County 8th graders will make their way to Woodrow Wilson Middle School. That’s where they’ll pretend to be 27-year-olds and learn all about budgeting.
The event teaches the kids an important life lesson.
“Everything has a cost and so we give them a better idea of what the costs of things is and what things you’ve got to think of to budget for,” says Brett Taylor, the District Manager of Junior Achievement in the Wabash Valley.
Representatives from local businesses and colleges help make the event possible. This year, the event has nearly 200 volunteers.
