TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – Local and state law enforcement agencies are teaming up to look for impaired drivers.
The Vigo County Sheriff’s Office, Terre Haute Police Department and Indiana State Police announced the Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign.
The campaign involves extra patrols on the roads.
It runs now through Labor Day, but law enforcement officials say impaired driving is a year-round issue.
“It’s a constant thing, we’re looking for impaired driving. Number one, they shouldn’t be on the road. They put too many people at risk. They kill too many people every year, injure too many people every year and it’s something that’s 100% preventable,” says Vigo County Sheriff John Plasse.
About 230 law enforcement agencies nationwide take part in the campaign.
