Local ‘Star Wars’ fans head to theaters for final film


TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — The Latest “Star Wars” movie is now showing in theaters, and excited fans are flocking to theaters to see the final film in the new trilogy.

“Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker” is expected to wrap up the adventures of the trilogy’s heroine, Rey.

WTWO spoke to members of the Terre Haute North Swim Team, who decided to go see the movie together.

“I’m excited to see the conclusion of the whole series, see what Disney does with the series, how they portray the characters.” swim team member and “Star Wars” fan Spencer Templeton said. “They’ve been developing the characters a lot, so I’m really excited. That an the action, too.”

Analysts are predicting the movie will bring in about $175 to $200 million in its opening weekend. Disney thinks it will bring in around $160 million.
