Local Rotary donates to various groups

Eight local organizations received some extra help on Tuesday from the Rotary Club of Terre Haute.

Its members presented $7,088 in donations to various groups.

The Rotary Foundation provides a little monetary help to organizations to help them get through tough times.

It’s something Rotary officials say is important to their members.

“Groups that are in need of, you know, not a new building, but sometimes a group just needs a new refrigerator or a new something that’s not in their budgets,” says Richard Shagley, Chairman of the Rotary Grants Committee.

The Rotary Club of Terre Haute released the following list of recipients:

*West Vigo Community Center, $1,250 for youth basketball program

*Catholic Charities Christmas Store, $1,000

*League of Terre Haute, $1,000 to provide clothes and dental supplies to children
