Eight local organizations received some extra help on Tuesday from the Rotary Club of Terre Haute.
Its members presented $7,088 in donations to various groups.
The Rotary Foundation provides a little monetary help to organizations to help them get through tough times.
It’s something Rotary officials say is important to their members.
“Groups that are in need of, you know, not a new building, but sometimes a group just needs a new refrigerator or a new something that’s not in their budgets,” says Richard Shagley, Chairman of the Rotary Grants Committee.
The Rotary Club of Terre Haute released the following list of recipients:
*West Vigo Community Center, $1,250 for youth basketball program
*Catholic Charities Christmas Store, $1,000
*League of Terre Haute, $1,000 to provide clothes and dental supplies to children
*Ryves Youth Center, $900 to repair roof to reopen computer lab for tutoring
*Brown Bag Food Project sponsored by local churches, $750 to provide lunches at Garfield Towers and Warren Village
*Western Indiana Community Action Agency, $693 for GPS tracking devices for school buses
*Salvation Army, $525 to send 21 children and teens to their summer camp
*Griffin Bike Park will receive two grants. $500 for costs for a Rotary volunteer service project at the park and $470 to purchase two mountain bikes for use by underprivileged children
