Local Red Cross Efforts for Hurricane Michael Victims

Relief efforts continue in the wake of Hurricane Michael.

We spoke with Red Cross officials today who say they’ve deployed more than 150 volunteers from the region so far; that includes twelve people from our local area.

These volunteers are helping with disaster relief in all areas and the Red Cross expects to deploy more.

“With the hurricanes back to back, we’re picking up from one and helping with another, so a lot of work will need to be done by the volunteers after Hurricane Michael has passed, so we are looking to deploy more volunteers,” said Tonya Sawyer, Chair of the Leadership Council For The Wabash Valley

If you’d like to help, you can volunteer or make a financial contribution to the Red Cross.

The organization says blood donations are also important, and they have a blood drive coming up on October 28th at the Terre Haute chapter.
