TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — An event this weekend provides a great opportunity, to make a difference in the lives of homeless animals in the Wabash Valley.
The WTWO station is teaming up with local animal shelters for the pet adoption drive, Clear The Shelters. A number of local shelters are taking part in the event on Saturday, including the Terre Haute Humane Society, and the Edgar County Animal Shelter.
WTWO will be broadcasting live that day, from both of those shelters. Maggie Wheeler with the Terre Haute Humane Society said they’ll offer deep discounts on adoption fees. Wheeler also explains how welcoming a new pet to your home makes a big impact.
“I think people sometimes don’t understand that when you adopt an animal you’re actually helping two animals. You’re helping the animal you take home plus you’re freeing up space so that we can help another animal,” Wheeler said.
You can learn more about the event and all the participating shelters on the WTWO Clear the Shelter webpage.
