TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Area nonprofit businesses are struggling to keep up during the pandemic. That’s why some officials say tomorrow’s Giving Tuesday is especially important.
Richard Payonk, executive director of the United Way of the Wabash Valley, said there are many local nonprofits that provide social services to the community all year round, and the devastating effect of the pandemic on those groups means they desperately need extra funds, especially during the holidays at the end of the year.
“As we’re approaching the holiday season, I think that makes all of our hearts want to help our fellow men and there isn’t a better way to do it than on Giving Tuesday, when we can reach out and really make an impact on this community,” Payonk said. “I encourage any way to find the social service, the nonprofit that moves their heart and see if you can find someone to make a donation.”
Giving Tuesday is a global effort. You don’t just have to give funds, you can also just share some kindness.
