TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Terre Haute police made an arrest early Saturday morning after a woman shot a man.
According to a probable cause affidavit, 22-year-old, Lexus Dunbar shot Jalen Polk after what she described to authorities as a physical altercation between the two.
The affidavit states that Dunbar picked Polk up from his home at 1475 Dahlen Avenue in Terre Haute Friday afternoon. The two went together so Dunbar could purchase alcohol, with her two-year-old daughter in the vehicle.
In the affidavit, Dunbar claims that Polk became aggressive during the car ride back to his home because he wanted to change the music in the car. Dunbar told authorities that when he got out of the car he took the alcohol and Dunbar’s cellphone.
Dunbar told authorities she followed Polk from the car and grabbed the bag he was carrying with some of the items, when he pushed and hit her. Dubar says she was knocked to the ground and Polk punched her in the eye. Dunbar told authorities she went to the trunk of her car to grab and load a handgun, and that she confronted Polk to get back an additional bottle of alcohol. Dunbar says Polk attempted to flee into the residence when she shot him in the back.
Terre Haute police say Dunbar left the scene, but was found and arrested by THPD shortly after she left.
Authorities say Polk suffered non-life threatening injuries. Dunbar was arrested for aggravated battery, battery with serious bodily injury and battery with a deadly weapon.
