MONTGOMERY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A Washington woman is dealing with a broken leg and another woman has been arrested after a hit-and-run situation involving a pony cart.

The crash occurred on County Road 100 N just east of County Road 575 E at approximately 7:58 a.m. Monday.

According to officials from the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office, a pony cart being operated by a 59-year-old Washington woman was traveling eastbound when it was rear-ended by a 2014 Chevrolet Cruz driven by 30-year-old Gabrielle Judith Marie Dlugosz-Madison also of Washington. The collision sent the cart off the southbound side of the roadway and caused the operator to suffer a broken leg. She was taken to Daviess Community Hospital.

Dlugosz-Madison reportedly didn’t stop following the crash. Deputies used security camera footage from Barr Reeve High School to identify and track down the vehicle involved. Roughly seven hours after the incident, deputies arrested Dlugosz-Madison and charged her with the level 6 felony of leaving the scene of a crash.
