TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – The Queen of Terre Haute Casino Resort will have a groundbreaking on June 21st.

The city’s assistant engineer, Marcus Maurer, said the engineering department has yet to review an official site plan for the casino.

“We have yet to review the official site plan where we’ll look at the overall drainage of the site, the building placement, the parking lot, the lighting and all that,” Maurer said. “And our building inspection division also reviews the building plans.”

Ahead of the groundbreaking, Maurer said they looked at an initial plan that will allow them to work on storm drainage and grading the site.

“We’ve reviewed a very initial site plan for groundbreaking. They’ll just do a little bit of grading to set up their site plan, get their water quality feature set up for construction,” he said.

Maurer said there is no timetable or deadlines for his office, but when they receive submitted plans, it usually takes two to three weeks until they receive approval.
