TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Judging of this year’s shelters decorated for “Christmas in the Park” at Deming Park took place Monday evening. Themes ranged from a “Christmas Tree Farm” to nativities and everything in between to spread holiday cheer.
Many creative ideas were put together by nonprofit organizations that hoped to bring home a chunk of the $13,500 in prize money.
The top six winners were:
1. Wabash Valley Master Gardeners
2. “P.S. We Love You,” benefiting Riley Children’s Hospital
3. Team of Mercy
4. Sugar Grove Parent Teacher Organization
5. Knights of Columbus
6. West Vigo High School
Sugar Grove PTO also won the “People’s Choice Award.” Even organizations that did not place in the top six will receive some money for participating.
The Terre Haute Parks Department could not provide exact numbers, but says thousands of people see the lights every year.
