VINCENNES, Ind. — Strong winds and storms caused power outages and extensive damage throughout the WIN Energy REMC service territory.

As of 8 a.m., approximately 954 members were without power. Sullivan County was reporting the most outages, with 592 members still without power.

Crews worked through the night Wednesday and will continue to work through the day Thursday to restore power.

WIN Energy representatives said members should expect extended outage times due to the extent of damage to poles and power lines.

“As always, we want to remind everyone to stay safe and keep away from downed trees and power lines,” Leslie Beard, Director of Marketing and Member Services said.

Members can report outages by calling (888) 456-9876, through their online SmartHub account or mobile app, or by texting ‘OUT’ to 85700.
