SAINT-MARY-OF-THE-WOODS, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — If you enjoy gardening you’re sure to love a local plant sale happening this weekend.

The White Violet Center for Eco-Justice is a ministry of the Sisters of Providence at Saint Mary of the Woods. Friday they began their third annual spring plant sale. This is the second year the event is being held in person.

Organizers hope you’ll stop by to see the organically grown vegetables, flowers, and herbs they have for sale.

“There aren’t a lot of places where folks can get organically grown plants,” Flower and Fiber Arts Coordinator for White Violet Center For Eco-justice Candace Minster said. “It’s a little harder to find an organic tomato plant for instance so we have been, a little, filling that niche market for a while. So we were really excited to be able to just open up our greenhouse and just hold the event right here.”

The center has some new items for offer as part of this year’s sale.

“New this year, we have some Dalia Tubers which we did not have available before, so this is our own stock of plants that we grow for our cut flower production and we just had an abundance more than what we could plant in the field so we decided to make some available for sale,” said Minster. “We also have some new varieties of tomatoes and peppers available, some different herbs that we haven’t had before.”

The sale will continue Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the White Violet Center Greenhouse.
