VIGO COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Local elementary students got out of the classroom Tuesday and took their science class outdoors.
West Vigo High School students held a Kids Science Day for third graders from Sugar Creek Consolidated and Fayette Elementary schools.
The 3rd graders visited different stations at Dewey Point where they learned about topics ranging from bees and frogs to microorganisms.
“It shows them what’s in their backyard,” said West Vigo senior Hailey Kane. “It really shows them what’s in the Wabashiki. It shows them what they have access to that they don’t really think about.”
Those involved say the children have a lot of fun.
“They are laughing and smiling and just really enjoying it,” said West Vigo Biology Teacher Lora Kane. “Just really enjoying it and it’s just really fun to get out of the classroom and see these kids in action.”
The event was sponsored by Emily’s Walk, Riverscape, and West Vigo High School.
