VIGO COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — An annual event all about science brought high schoolers and elementary school students together today.

West Vigo High School students put on a Kid Science Day for third graders from several schools.

The event took place at Dewey Point where the kids visit different stations that teach them about various science topics in fun ways. The topics range from motion to animals to the different states of matter.

The event gives the high schoolers leadership experience, while the third graders also have a lot of fun.

“So if we can instill a love for science with younger children they can see that they can play, they can explore and they can learn things and they don’t even realize they’re learning things,” said Lora Kane, Biology teacher at West Vigo High School.

For this year’s event, ISU brought a water table, and students got to enjoy live animals.

Kane also noted that “Emily’s Walk” helps with funding this event.
