West Vigo Elementary evacuates students due to cough, eye irritation

Vigo County Schools are scheduled to host 18 community meetings in September and October to discuss the referendum on the November ballot.

WEST TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — West Vigo Elementary School is being evacuated after several students complained of cough and eye irritation.

According to communications director Bill Riley, the evacuation is a precaution. Authorities have not named a cause for the irritation.

Sugar Creek Fire is at the scene to medically clear students. All symptoms have cleared for students after spending time outside, according to Riley.

Buses will take bus riders home from Consolidated. Car riders will be taken to Consolidated for pickup in the gym at end of day. Identification is required for student pick up.

Walkers will be released from WVE back parking lot/playground area at 2:45 p.m.
