WEST TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – The walkway between Terre Haute and West Terre Haute opened earlier this summer, and now it’s getting some upgrades.
The Vigo County Solid Waste Management District donated trash cans and benches.
Vigo County Commissioner, Chris Switzer believes the additions have been popular.
“People using the walkway has been incredible. You know, this morning, walking by, there were probably six or seven people, maybe the same family sitting on the benches, had their feet up on the railing, and just, you know, taking it all in, so it’s great,” Switzer said.
The $9 million walkway was built with the intention of creating a safer route between Terre Haute and West Terre Haute by keeping pedestrians and bicyclists off the highway.
