WEST TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — The West Terre Haute Police Department will be welcoming a new member of the K-9 unit to the force at 4 p.m. Tuesday in an event open to the public.

Over the last several months, WTHPD has been running a fundraising campaign to reestablish its K-9 unit. With donations from the Gibson family and the Oakley Foundation, the department secured enough money to bring in a new K-9 officer named Bree.

The official swearing in ceremony and press event will take place at the Dewey Point Shelter on the Wabashiki Trail. Afterwards, an officer meet and greet open to the public will take place with leaders from the department.
