TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – Hamilton Center will host its We Live event on July 31, an occasion that celebrates the community while helping children prepare for school.

The event will take place at Herz-Rose Park on Locust Street from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and will include fun activities, free food and community resources.

Hundreds of bags full of school supplies will be given to kids. Youth can also get free haircuts and t-shirts.

While the event helps get kids ready to go back to school, it will also offer anyone in the community access to resources. The event will feature 40 vendors from local organizations.

“A lot of us look at it as a back to school bash for the kids because we provide so many things for the kids, but we want to look at it as a bash for the entire community,” said Tatu Brown, Executive Director of Human Services at Hamilton Center.
