VINCENNES, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A local festival will be making its way back to Knox County this weekend.

The Watermelon Fest starts Friday night at 5 p.m. and will continue through Saturday.

The festival is packed with several watermelon-themed activities, such as a watermelon eating contest, unique vendors, the watermelon business challenge, pageants, and a 5k run or walk.

The 5k will take place Saturday morning starting at 8 a.m. at Patrick Henry Square. Those wishing to participate can register between 7 and 7:30 a.m. with a $30 entry fee.

“It’s gonna be a great event. We have a full schedule of events for Friday night and Saturday that it’s gonna really be well attended,” Knox County Chamber of Commerce President Jamie Neal said. “We’re very excited to be able to share this with our community.”

The watermelon business challenge winner will also be announced Friday evening.
