SULLIVAN COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — WTWO said Congratulations on a job well done on Wednesday.

The station held our annual Top of the Class luncheon, where area valedictorians are honored.

Students representing almost 50 Wabash Valley high schools in both Indiana and Illinois came together for the event at North Central High School’s gymnasium.

More than 120 students and their guests were treated to a special luncheon and awards ceremony.

This yearly event is often held outside of the WTWO/WAWV studios, however, the inclement weather forced the event to be moved indoors.

North Knox’s valedictorian Abigail McKinley carried on a family tradition.

“My older brother, he graduated in 2015 and he got valedictorian first, and then my older sister Addison in 2018, she got it. So, it was just kinda something I set a goal for myself that I wanted to do it too,” said McKinley. “Then when I achieved it, it was like ‘pressures off my shoulders’. I have a younger sister, so I’m putting the pressure on her now.”

Lincoln Trail College in Robinson was the title sponsor and gave each of the students a gift.

“These students have dedicated the last 4 years to academics which is something we’re very passionate about at Lincoln Trail College,” Dean of Students at LTC Brent Todd said. “So it only seems like a natural fit that we would come here and acknowledge them for their accomplishments.”

This marked the 32nd year of Top of the Class.
