TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)– To close out one of their best years, the Wabash Valley Jeep Junkies held their first-ever “appreciation event” for local members.

President Mike Latta said he thought it was a good way to give back to their members after they helped raise over $100,000 to various local organizations.

“We felt like that was a cause for a little bit of a celebration, but also to say thank you to all of those volunteers and all of those people who also came out and supported the rides, that’s not a small number and we don’t take that for granted,” Latta said.

About 70 people made it to the local plumbers and steamfitters union building for the event. Members brought food, drinks and, of course, their Jeeps for everyone to enjoy.

Latta said he hoped to host similar events in the future to continue to say thanks to those who make the organization what it is.

“This group is so caring and so giving, a lot of times we’re asking for donations, for this event or that event, or we’re asking them to register for this ride or that ride,” he said. “It’s just a good chance to give back and say, ‘come out, and let’s celebrate this.’”

Latta said anyone interested in the group can find more information on their Facebook page.
