TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – The Wabash Valley Dragway is looking for answers after having property vandalized and a truck stolen this week.

Troy Mann, one of the owners of the Wabash Valley Dragway, said this likely took place sometime on Tuesday.

“[Tuesday] we got notification that there was a break-in down here and some fencing was missing, so when we showed up down here we discovered that there was a truck that was parked right here in front of the concession stand that was missing,” Mann said.

However, a missing fence and truck was just the beginning of the destruction that was left.

“Along with that, they tore down the cover on the concession stand, broke into the concession stand, they took some product out of there. They also took the keys to all of the other vehicles around here, they attempted to break into two other items, we have a shed that has fuel in it and we have a shed that we keep some of our equipment in,” Mann said.

Mann said the truck was recovered by the Vigo County Sheriff’s Office around the area of 8th and Hulman Streets.

“I actually believe the community is the one that found the truck and notified the police,” Mann said.

He explained that as of right now, he is not sure how much money the repairs and replacements will cost.

“We’re going to have to wait and see all that we’re missing and stuff like that and make sure everything’s working that they tampered with,” Mann said.

He said right now, they are working to secure everything before assessing the damage.

Mann said although this is an extremely frustrating situation, he is grateful for the community’s support.

“You work your butt off to do things and this is really a volunteer thing for us to do, there’s no real money you make here. It’s a lot of fun, it’s the passion we have with drag racing and stuff like that and all three of us actually drag race,” Mann said.

The Vigo County Sheriff’s Office is investigating this case. If you have any information, you are asked to call 812-462-3226.
