TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Members of the West Vigo National Honors Society volunteered Sunday to spray paint indicators on the ground to map out safe walking routes for students at Fuqua Elementary School in Terre Haute, Ind.

Volunteers spray painted falcon stencils onto sidewalks indicating the safest and most direct route to school for students to walk. They also placed yard signs along the routes designed by students at the school.

“Not only is it better for them mentally and physically, but it will help the city see some of the problems with infrastructure,” Project Manager Adelynn Harris said.

The volunteer hours from honors society members will benefit Riverscape and provide safe transportation for children in the future.
