VINCENNES, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — The Vincennes YMCA has announced upcoming events, including lifeguard certification classes, a fish fry fundraiser and a St. Patrick’s celebration 5K run.
The Y’s St. Patrick’s Day celebration fish fry fundraiser will Friday, March 19, from 4-7 p.m. Each adult plate will contain two fish fillets, two sides and a dessert cookie. Children’s plates will have one piece of fish, one side and a cookie. Tickets — $10 for an adult plate, $5 for children 12 and under — are available at the front desk of the Y at 2010 College Ave. The drive-thru pickup for meals will be across the street at the Child Care Building.
On Saturday, March 20 at 9 a.m., the Y will host a St. Pat’s celebration 5K starting in front of the main building. Registration is $30 for members, $35 for non-members.
Lifeguard certification classes are available March 11 – 14, March 18 – 21, April 15 – 17, April 29 – May 2, May 13 – 16, May 27 – 30 and June 3 – 6. Classes are 6-10 p.m. Thursday, 5-10 p.m. Friday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday and as needed on Sunday. Registration is $180, includes a $50 non-refundable deposit if the participant cancels or drops out within a week of class.
Lifeguard recertification classes are scheduled for April 2-3 and May 7-8. Classes are 5-10 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday. Registration is $105, including a $50 non-refundable deposit if the participant cancels or drops out within a week of class.
The YMCA of Vincennes is now allowing day passes. Children must be 12 years or older to use the facility without adult supervision. Masks are required for entrance into the facility, in the hallways, restrooms and locker rooms. Masks are not required in area of exercise. Passes will based on daily facility capacity and COVID-19 Guidelines.
The Y’s facility hours are Monday – Friday, 5:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., Saturday 6 a.m.-6 p.m. and Sunday 1-6 p.m.
