Vincennes woman dies after car flips into ditch

KNOX COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – A Vincennes, Ind., woman has died after her car flipped off the road near Mt. Zion Road.

Police responded to the scene around 7:30 p.m. Sunday to find Paula Kordes, 55, critically injured from a single-vehicle crash. Officers from both the Indiana State Police and the Knox County Sheriff’s Office helped Kordes.

While driving west on State Road 61 West, Kordes’ 1987 Oldsmobile went off the road’s north side and hit a ditch before flipping over and stopping. The reasons for the crash are unknown, according to Indiana State Police.

Kordes was initially taken to Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes for treatment; however, she was later airlifted to Ascension St. Vincent Hospital in Evansville where she died after being treated for critical injuries. The Vanderburgh County Coroner’s Office will conduct an autopsy.
