VINCENNES, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — More than $100,000 dollars were raised by alumni, staff, students and community members as part of Vincennes University’s Blazers Give Day.

The second annual day of philanthropic giving ended up bringing in a total of $114,000 in donations for the school. VU President Dr. Chuck Johnson said that the cash will have a big impact.

“Because of you, a VU education is an even greater value, and our programs are stronger,” said Dr. Johnson. “Because of you, goals were met, and the future of our university is brighter than ever. You made yesterday, Blazers Give Day, one day that will make a difference every day.”

In addition to financial gifts, Trailblazers gave back by donating professional clothing to students via the Blazers and More program, writing thank-you notes to donors, and contributing to the food drive for Sandy’s Pantry which provides free food items to VU students.

One of the events of the day was the Blazers Give Social, in which folks enjoyed food and live music performed by VU students in the Jefferson Union.

The university says they will be announcing a date for the 2023 Blazers Give Day soon.
