VINCENNES, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Vincennes University (VU) brought the community together Thursday, April 13 for the 3rd annual Blazers Give Day.

Blazers Give Day is a 24-hour day of giving. The event kicked off early Thursday morning and ends at 11:59 P.M. VU representatives say the day was created to celebrate the Trailblazer spirit and gives VU supporters an opportunity to make a difference that carries forward each and every day.

“A lot of this money goes for scholarships,” Gazella Summitt, VU alumni and retired staff member said. “And when I look at my own life, a scholarship brought me to Vincennes University.”

“This is an ongoing activity,” Chuck Johnson, President of Vincennes University, said. “Vincennes University relies upon the support and the donations from others, all their help, it is a true community effort that makes this possible.”

Donors can visit the Blazers Give Day website to learn more about challenges and donation matching opportunities as well as read updates on the fundraiser throughout the day.
