Vincennes police warn of counterfeit bills circulating

VINCENNES, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — The Vincennes Police Department on Friday reported that it has recently taken several reports of local businesses receiving counterfeit bills, in denominations of $100 and $50.

The department said that $100 bill appears to be a 1980 series bearing serial number “K19370656A” while the $50 bill is a 2000 series bearing serial number “MA00924819A.”

It advised businesses to pay special attention to larger denomination bills and the serial numbers before taking them. Any business who has received a counterfeit bill should contact VPD. Anyone with information regarding this investigation should contact the Vincennes Police Department at (812) 882-1630 and ask to speak with the detective division. Police currently have no suspects.
