VINCENNES, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Police will be paying extra attention to a construction zone along Washington Avenue in Vincennes.
That’s according to Vincennes Mayor Joe Yochum, who said police will be watching for folks going over the 10 mph speed limit, as well as through-traffic which is not allowed at this time.
The portion of Washington Avenue that is closed runs between Niblack Boulevard and Belle Crossing.
Crews began to work on the road Monday morning and are repaving the roadway as well as installing new curbing and gutters later on.
“Ingress will still be allowed from either direction. However, egress may be restricted to one direction or the other throughout the day,” Yochum said. “There will be flaggers and other personnel around to assist with maintenance of traffic.”
Yochum said work is expected to continue for two weeks as workers will be moving telecommunication lines from existing poles to new poles.
