VIGO COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Over the last two weeks, Vigo County has seen a decrease in COVID-19 cases, according to data from the county health department.

The Vigo County Health Department on Tuesday posted its weekly COVID-19 graph that showed the decrease. According to county health educator Roni Elder, it is common for the Delta variant to peak and then for cases to decline.

While cases are down, Elder said there were still 392 newly reported cases last week. On Wednesday, the state will release a new map showing each county’s transmission rate.

Currently, Parke County is the only county in the Wabash Valley that is in the red level, or highest level, of transmission as determined by the state health department. As of 4 p.m. Tuesday, all other Valley counties are in orange.
