TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – Eyes across the country are centered on Vigo County and their ability to select presidents.
Fox News featured Terre Haute inside of Cackleberries restaurant for their Fox & Friends segment. Restaurants customers discussed the state of the country as well as their presidential selections.
Owners of Cackleberries believe having national attention on Terre Haute will be very beneficial.
“We thought about it for a minute and said sure. We thought it would bring attention to the city, and our county and our business as well, explained Cackleberries co-owner, Tirzah Popoff. “It might encourage people to get out and do their civic duty and vote.”
Vigo County have correctly selected the eventual president in every election since 1956, will look to keep their bellwether status in tact during the 2020 Presidential Election.
“Ever since I was a child, my parents would always encourage us that we should be paying attention to what was going on in government and that when we were old enough to vote,” stated Popoff. “I have voted in every election since I turned 18 and I encourage my kids to do that.”
If Vigo County selects the eventual president of the 2020 election, it would make the 17th election in a row the county has selected the president.
