TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Vigo County 911 has issued a wind advisory for Thursday, from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. EST. The severity level is moderate, with a possible threat to life or property.
Southwest winds from 20 to 30 miles per hour with gusts of up to 50 mph are expected. Gusty winds could blow around outdoor objects such as holiday decorations, which should be secured. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result. Extra caution is urged when driving, especially if operating a high profile vehicle.
Afternoon relative humidity values will drop to around 25 to 35%. This will lead to an elevated fire risk. Outdoor burning is not recommended, as fires could quickly get out of control with the combination of strong winds and low humidity.
